Words by Maurice Rolka:
This weekend was different! And not just because we were lucky enough to host two test events in different ski resorts at the same time, because the Riders First Try on the Kitzsteinhorn from the infamous Basecamp Boardshop and the Kaunertal Opening took place at the same time, giving us the chance to provide you with as much stoke and the new Salomon snowboards products as possible.
The Kaunertal Opening itself was also special, as it was not called „The Last one as we know it“ for nothing. And it should go down in history as such. Go-shred also looks back on a long series of Kaunertal Openings and we are super stoked to have been a part of it and to have experienced the wild ride. As the last of its kind, this KTO naturally had a lot to offer. Meaning more parties, more testing, more stoke and above all more snow. Hell yeah!
What’s more, the snow arrived at just the right moment. With perfect conditions, we were able to start the last test of the pre-season and present you the new sleds from the Salomon Snowboards forge. Especially with such good snow conditions, there is something for everyone in the Salomon Snowboards Quiver and you guys did your best to keep us as busy as possible while screwing and providing test boards. Thanks for that, we appreciate everyone who was there to talk to us about the new boards, test them for all they’re worth and then give us detailed feedback.
A massive thank you also goes out to our mobility partner Autohaus Dosenberger. Due to the strong support from Team Dosenberger, we are able to hold several demo events at the same time, always arrive safely and master even such difficult conditions on the glacier road as we had at the KTO.
As always, your feedback was overwhelming. So many happy faces from freshly baked Salomon testers show that Salomon products simply have what it takes. Your stoke is what drives snowboarding. Despite the extreme weather conditions, even on the last day we had more tests than ever before. To all the shred heads out there, keep the Stoke as it is and keep testing!
With the last KTO as we know it, the 2023/24 snowboard season has officially started. There’s more snow on the way, we’re hoping for the first real powder days and are looking forward to the super exciting events that lie ahead of us this season.
Make sure you check the go-shred event calendar to be a part of it.
See you there!
