Saturday, 9th of March, Snowpark Steinplatte was on fire. For the third time we’ve run the STEP IN THE ARENA rail contest. The contest format tastes like a cocktail of jam session, best trick award and a lot of spicy shred heads.
The go-shred event crew arrived on Friday late morning to transport all the stuff to the park base. When finished the transport, it was time to shred, cause if you don’t go, you don’t know. At the end, Snowpark Steinplatte never disappointed for the last 8 year since we’re running go-shred events in little Bear Mountain of Tyrol.
On Saturday, day of the decision, day of the battle, day of the contest, we were spoiled with blue sky, bright sunshine and so many riders who want to battle in the arena. All in all, we counted 64 registrations for women ski and snowboard and men ski and snowboard category. At 12:15 we started the qualifying heats and at 14:30 it was time for the big final. The finals were high voltage loaded and riders did massive gaps from one obstacle to other one.
The High Five snowparks crew build once again a wild setup, which scared us when seeing it for the first time. But finally, the riding level was so high, that all kind of gab combinations were done. The crow was cheering and fascinated in the same time. Action nonstop and BBQ and the drinks for the universal pleasure. Nothing new but still working, bread and circuses make everybody happy.
I want to say thank you to all the participants, the spectators, the High Five Snowparks crew, Kitzbühler Alpen and last but not least Steinplatte for having us and driving with us the freestyle scene since nearly a decade.
