Last Saturday, we hosted the STEP IN THE ARENA rail battle at Snowpark Steinplatte. In the morning, just after setting up our course, the sun made a brief appearance, and we were hopeful for a bluebird day—but not this time. The weather started to get worse and worse, but that couldn’t stop our gladiators.
By 11 o’clock, we kicked off the registration, and step by step, more and more rail battle-hungry shredders showed up. The setup, built by the High Five Snowparks crew, looked amazing, offering all kinds of combinations to help riders put together their best scores.
As you may remember, the STEP IN THE ARENA contest features three different zones, where riders need to land tricks and earn points for their final results. As the name suggests, there is only one winner in the ARENA—which might seem like a contradiction compared to other go-shred events, but this one is a battle and the only one with prize money.

At 12:00, we started the qualification rounds. To keep things fair, we had four categories: snowboard, ski, advanced, and expert, with both men’s and women’s divisions. Just to highlight—all go-shred events are open to both snowboarders and skiers, and prize money is equally distributed. Same amount for men and women—fair and square.

After an intense qualification round, which ran until 2 o’clock, we had a solid lineup of riders for the finals. The battle was exhausting since it was a rail and hike session, but the adrenaline, hype, and energy made it all worth it. The entire go-shred crew and the High Five Snowparks shapers were stoked to witness the passion and intensity of the contest. Not even the worsening weather could stop the riders!

During and after the finals, we provided a free BBQ and drinks for all participants, creating a festival atmosphere combined with high-level rail riding. As the finals wrapped up, the crowd was stoked—finishing off the last sausages and drinks while catching a well-earned break.

At the prize-giving ceremony, we crowned the winners with cash prizes and goodies from our supporter YETI.

We want to thank all of you for showing up and battling in the ARENA. A huge shoutout to Steinplatte and Kitzbüheler Alpen Region Hohe Salve for hosting us for nearly a decade and pushing the SHRED with us!
The season isn’t over yet—three more events to come:
