Am Samstag den 13. Mai, waren wir zurück an dem SPOT, wo alles begann, zumindest für einige von uns. Der Kaunertaler Gletscher ist eines der traditionsreichsten Freestyle Gebiete! Beweis genug ist das im Herbst anstehende 32. Kaunertaler Opening und die Tatsache, dass im Kaunertaler Gletscher die ersten Snowboarder mit offenen Armen empfangen wurden, als alle anderen Skigebiete noch skeptisch waren.

Eine andere Geschichte, die das Kaunertal zum traditionsreichsten Freestyle Resort in Österreich macht ist die vor über 20 Jahren selbst gebaute Schneefräse für den Pipebau einer der ersten Halfpipes in Österreich. Wir sind gestoked, dass go-shred ein Teil dieser Freestylegeschichte sein darf und können es kaum glauben bereits das 6. GAME im Kaunertal veranstaltet zu haben.

Am Samstag morgen waren wir frühzeitig im Park, um alles für das GAME vorzubereiten und um bevor die Show losging noch ne Runde zu shredden. Um 11 Uhr starteten wir mit der Anmeldung und konnten es kaum glauben als die Teilnehmerzahl immer weiter anstieg.

Wir hatten über 50 Teilnehmer, mehr als 100 Zuschauer, die in der Parkbase bei BBQ und Spezi – Das Original chillten. Wieder einmal kamen unsere Gäste von nah und fern, (wie beispielsweise aus Deutschland, Schweiz, Bulgarien, Tschechei, Estonia, Spanien, Italien und alle anderen Nationen, die hier vergessen wurden) um den Park zu shredden.

Selbst nach Liftschluss wollte keiner nach Hause fahren. Der harte Kern gab sich noch eine Session am legendären S Rail, nicht weit von der Pakbase entfernt. Alle waren begeistert von der Stimmung, von dem guten Wetter und natürlich von dem Gedanken an die bevorstehende Siegerehrungsparty im Zappadello.

Traditionsgemäß waren die Homies Simon und Kirschi aka die Abrissbrudis an den 12ern und als Special Guest wurde noch DJ BKILL aus Frankreich eingeflogen, der mit seiner Scratch Demo den Laden zum beben brachte.

ENGLISCH VERSION
On Saturday 13th of May, we went back to where it all started, at least for a few of us. Kaunertal is one of the most traditional freestyle resorts in Austria. If you only remember that this year, Kaunertal held the 32nd glacier opening. On top Kaunertal was one of the first resorts accepting snowboarders. And not to forget, about 20 years ago, the manager of the Kaunertaler glacier resort developed a groom machine for building one of the first pipes in Austria all by himself! The go-shred crew went to the epic resort for the 6th GAME of go-shred and is stoked to be part of the Kaunertaler Freestyle history.
On Saturday morning, we arrived early at the SPOT and pulled up our installation. We were done with the preparations at 10. So we had one hour left for shredding! At 11 it was time for the one and only GAME of go-shred. Impressed by the rising number of participants from year to year we proudly announce to have counted over 50 participants and more than 100 people hanging around at the parkbase enjoying BBQ and Spezi. Our guests came from near and far (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia and many more countries) to shred the park.
Even as the lift had closed nobody wanted to stop the session. The core shredders started a final session at the s rail, which is located close to the park base. Everybody was hyped about the friendly atmosphere, the good weather and the fact that the prize giving ceremony was once again at the Zapadello down in the valley. We had the honor to have our friends Kirschi and Simon aka the Abriss brudis behind the turn tables and as a special surprise DJ BKILL straight outa France.

We‘re blessed that we had the possibility to write another part of freestyle history in the Kaunertal and we want to say thank you to everybody.
