Spezi X go-shred ANNIVERSARY crew neck I DESIGNER INTERVIEW

How did you approach the design of the anniversary hoodie?

First, I looked into the history of Spezi—when it was created, by whom, etc. I was already familiar with go-shred. I know that Spezi has been a partner for a long time, but I didn’t know its history.

What inspired you during the development of the design?

While talking with Martin from go-shred, he mentioned that he could see a somewhat vintage style and gave me an example of an old Adria caravan. So, without specifically focusing on the Adria brand, I dove into the vintage graphics of old vans and caravans. Given the brand’s history and the trend toward old-school design, I immediately thought of creating something that could look vintage while adding a modern touch to the logo.

Are there specific elements in the design that have a special meaning?

First, I really wanted to keep Spezi’s color scheme, with that gradient from yellow to orange.

Next, I created a mountain range with some classic old-school lines, which worked perfectly with Spezi’s colors. The color gradient evokes the hues of sunsets. The go-shred logo is hidden behind the mountains, like the sun setting after a day of riding, when it’s time to enjoy a nice Spezi :). The phrase at the bottom, featuring go-shred’s slogan, completes the logo and reminds us that at the bottom of the mountain, there’s the city and skateboarding side.

Were there particular challenges or highlights in designing the sweater?

The biggest challenge was incorporating two bold logos into the design without it looking too much like a billboard. That’s when I came up with the idea of stenciling the Spezi logo into the mountains. In fact, if you look closely, Spezi isn’t really printed on the sweatshirt 🙂

more personal questions:

How did the collaboration with Spezi and go-shred come about?

I think the first time Martin from go-shred mentioned this project to me, we were both on the two-seater mini chairlift in Avoriaz. He told me about the anniversary of the collaboration and asked if I was interested in designing an artwork for a sweatshirt. I said yes right away

What do you think about this partnership personally?

I think the partnership between go-shred and Spezi works really well. It’s a unique drink, appealing to both young and older generations. I’ve always associated go-shred with Spezi, so it feels like a perfect match to me.

What is your personal connection to winter sports and the GoShred community?

I am a graphic designer at Salomon Snowboards. I’ve been riding for over 30 years. My connection with go-shred is my friend Martin. I haven’t had the chance to participate in any of their events or even enjoy the go-shred community yet. But I’m keeping a close eye on it, and I’m a big supporter!
